Jack W. Brooks, 88, of Exeter, formerly of Kansas City, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, in Barry County Care Center, Cassville.

He was born March 14, 1918, in Kansas City, the son of Harold and Aileen (Wasson) Brooks. On Dec. 31, 1952, in Kansas City, he was united in marriage to Mary M. Morris who preceded him in death on Oct. 15, 1981. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill Brooks and one grandson, Jonathan Van Duyn.

Survivors include: one son, John W. Brooks, of Kansas City; two daughters, Mary Ann Tillman, of Exeter, and Midge Van Duyn, of Turlock, Calif.; one sister, Mary Richardson, of North Hollywood, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He received his education in Kansas City where he lived most of his life. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Jack made his living as a welder but he also excelled in languages, art and music. In January of 2002, he moved to Exeter to be with his daughter.

Memorial services were held Saturday at the Exeter Lions Club Building, Exeter, Missouri.

His body was cremated under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri.
