Lilas Corinne Black, 78, of Cassville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield.

She was born Oct. 15, 1928, in Barry County, the daughter of Clyde and Aletha (Kidwell) Towe. On Feb. 2, 1948, she was united in marriage to Laverne Black, who survives.

Additional survivors include: four sons, Tim Black, of Prineville, Ore., Steve Black and his wife, Terri, of Redmond, Ore., Kelly Black and his wife, Heidi, of Redmond, Ore., and Kevin Black and his wife, Colette, of Saigon, Vietnam; one daughter, Laverna Sabranke and her husband, Jerry, of Bothell, Wash.; one brother, Jack Towe, of Warm Springs, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bob Towe.

She received her education at the old Quaker School in Barry County and was a graduate of Cassville High School. She was a homemaker and resided in Prineville, Ore., 59 years. Four months ago she and Laverne moved back to Cassville to make their home. She attended Cassville First Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Pilant Cemetery, Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. John Duncan will conduct the services.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
