Mary Elizabeth Bond, 83, of St. Charles, formerly of Shell Knob, passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, in St. Joseph's Health Center, St. Charles.

She was born June 24, 1923, in Harville, the daughter of James Robert and Mellia Eveline (Sloats) Henson. On Jan. 21, 1940, in Charleston, she was united in marriage to Louis Harold Bond who preceded her in death on July 21, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, a grandson, four sisters and three brothers.

survivors include: one son, Harold Frederick Bond and his wife, Peggy, of Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter, Karen Sue Bock, of St. Charles; five grand-children; and 13 great grand-children.

She received her education in Charleston. She worked at Kresge for several years as a sales clerk. In 1977, she moved to Shell Knob and worked at Wal-Mart until her retirement. She lived in Shell Knob for 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shell Knob and a member of the Eastern Star for 40 years.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the First Baptist Church, Shell Knob under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Bob Gaddis conducted the service. Burial was at the Viola Cemetery.
