Marcell Charles, 90, of Exeter, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, in Barry County Care Center, Cassville.
He was born Dec. 8, 1916, in Ridgley, the son of George and Elsie (Thomas) Charles. On Aug. 5, 1939, he was united in marriage to Ada Lee Crabb, who preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eugene and Lou Don Charles; two sisters, June Armstrong and Doris Kimbrough and one grandson, Jamie Tucker.
survivors include: one son, Les Charles and his wife, Donna, of Springfield; one daughter, Joan Bailey and her husband, Don, of Exeter; one brother, Bob Charles; three sisters, Barb Hobbs, Mary Ellen Robinson and O'dean Brown; six grandchildren; and and 10 great grandchildren.
He received his education at Independence School near Exeter. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He owned and operated the Charles Sinclair Service Station in Exeter for 25 years and farmed his entire life.
He was a member of the Exeter First Baptist Church for 60 years.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Exeter First Baptist Church under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Jerry Yarnall conducted the services. Burial with Military Honors was at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
