George William Rogers, 99, of Carthage, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, in his home.

He was born April 5, 1907, in Keener, Ark., the son of George Washington and Myrtle (Nations) Rogers. On May 31, 1930, he was united in marriage to Lela Lucile Brisco, who preceded him in death on June 25, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include: one son, George Rogers and his wife, Cindy, of Carthage; one brother, Fred "Fritz" Rogers, of Grove, Okla.; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He received his education in Bergman, Ark. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was also proud to have been a deputy sheriff. He lived most of his life south of Carthage where he was a self-employed construction contractor. He was of the Baptist faith.

A private burial was held in Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
