• Lady Trojans and Lady Tigers battle. The Southwest Lady Trojans traveled to Exeter this past week to face the Lady Tigers in what promised to be a great match up. Both teams have had great starts to the year and only two losses combined. Despite an early Exeter lead, Southwest had a big second quarter and then kept the Tigers at bay, winning 50-43. For Southwest, Jessica Mitchell scored 16 and Chelsea Sneed grabbed four steals. For Exeter, Whitney Edie scored 29. Southwest moves to 6-1 (3-1) on the season and Exeter to 8-2 (3-1).

• Lady Eagles overpower Sarcoxie. The Lady Eagles of Purdy went to Sarcoxie on Thursday to face the Lady Bears. Purdy would jump on top quick, leading 27-12 at halftime, and never look back, beating Sarcoxie 62-19. As a team, Purdy had an outstanding 22 steals. Sierra Pryor scored 27 in the game, 15 of which came off three-point goals. She also had seven steals. Avery Roller had 25 points and five steals and Breann Proctor also had five steals. The Eagles move to 3-6 (1-3).

• Lady Bulldogs lose close game. The Wheaton girls' basketball team stayed home this week to face Galena. The Lady Bulldogs came back in the third quarter to take the lead, but the Lady Bears outscored Wheaton 17-10 in the final frame to edge the Lady Bulldogs 41-38. As a team, Wheaton tallied 44 rebounds. Haley Goostree led scoring with 14 and Johanna Baker led rebounding with 12. Wheaton moves to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

• Purdy pummels Exeter. The Purdy Eagles played host to the Exeter Tigers this week but did not treat them like guests, as they would trounce them 70-24. Mason Roller ended up with 26 points and 12 rebounds on the day. Nick Mercer had four steals and Ryan Veith six assists. Trenton Vandzandt, Tyler Henderson and Keith Hayworth each had 7 points for Exeter.

• Eagles get revenge on Pierce City. The Purdy boys also took on a rematch of Pierce City, who they had lost to earlier in the year. The Pierce City Eagles had home court advantage, but Purdy would win anyway, 59-51, behind a strong third quarter that gave them a firm lead. Purdy had great ball control, only turning the ball over nine times in the game. Roller scores 23 for the Eagles and Derek Dailey had five steals. Purdy's record now stands at 7-6 (3-1).

• Trojans notch another victory over Exeter. Southwest and Exeter squared off for the second time this year and Southwest won 71-61. The game was close until the Trojans had a big third quarter to gain the advantage. Rocky Hall led scoring with 25 for the Trojans, making seven three-point shots. Codie Harmon had four steals and six assists in the victory. Southwest now moves to 2-8 (1-3) overall. Exeter falls to 0-9 (0-3).
