Sarah Catherine (Dewitt) Bruton, 76, of Seligman, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

She was born Nov. 28, 1930, the eldest of six children to Larkin J. and Martha L. (Jordon) DeWitt. She was united in marriage Sept. 6, 1952, to Bob Bruton, who preceded her in death March 2003. In 1970, she was preceded in death by her son Carl, who gave his life for his country during the Vietnam War. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Belva Slye and Barbara Wickham.

Survivors include: her six daughters, Brenda Williams and her husband, Steve, of Oronogo, Glenda Barger and her husband, Gerald, of Monett, Ronda Pippin of Cassville, Vonda Bruton, of Seligman, Lora Bruton of Washburn, and Bobbie Perpich and her husband, Duane, of Ida, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Delta Newby, of Surprise, Ariz.; two brothers, James Clifford DeWitt, of Breckenridge, Texas, and Ivan DeWitt, of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; two brothers-in-law, Jim Bruton, Lloyd Bruton; five sisters-in-law, Norma Harris, Polly Wilson, Mary Rose, Ruth Lay and Irene Overman.

She grew up in Washburn where she received her education. She lived in Oceano, Calif., before coming to Seligman in 1965. She was a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church, Seligman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Ken West and Rev. John Henry will conduct the services. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery, Cassville.

Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Memorials in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.
