Cathalea Taylor, 93, of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, in Mt. Vernon Place Care Center, Mt. Vernon.

She was born Nov. 27, 1913, in Cassville, the daughter of J.T. and Mary Alice (Loftin) Hurst. On Nov. 21, 1948, she was united in marriage to W.F. "Bill" Taylor, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Lavonne Shore and one brother, Raymond Hurst.

She is survived by one sister, Mahala Jean Baker, of Mt. Vernon.

She was a graduate of Cassville High School. After graduation, she was a teacher for a few years in rural Barry County schools. During World War II she was employed in the Defense Plant at Tulsa, Okla. After the war she returned to Cassville where they had a livestock farm. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and taught Sunday School several years.

Graveside services were Friday at Mineral Springs Cemetery, Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Service were conducted by Rev. John Henry.
