Exeter boys can't stage comeback. The Tigers tried to come from behind to defeat Galena but were unsuccessful, falling to the Bears 70-59. Tyler Henderson, the 25th leading scorer in the area and second leading free-throw percentage shooter, and Ryan Odenbrett led Exeter's scoring with 14 a piece. Ian Russell chipped in 13 points. Exeter is still searching for its first win and will continue play in the Southwest Tournament today.
Nail biter in Diamond ends bitterly for Trojans. Southwest started strong but the Diamond Wildcats were able to fight back and hold on for the 58-56 win. Caleb Mitchell led the Trojans with 19 points, and both Codie Harmon and Josh Hartin tallied four steals. Southwest drops to 0-6 (0-3) on the season and will continue play in their own tournament today.
Purdy drops close one to Crane. The Eagles were unable to top Crane and lost 62-52. The Eagles move to 4-4 (2-1) on the season and will be continuing play in the Southwest Invitational today.
Lady Trojans take East Newton. Southwest took the lead in the first quarter and finished the game off in the fourth, beating the Lady Patriots 55-45. Jessica Mitchell scored 17 points to lead the Lady Trojans. Southwest is now 5-1 (2-1) on the season.
Exeter continues perfect season. McAuley Catholic jumped on top of the Lady Tigers 22-7 after the first quarter but Exeter rallied to win the conference game 51-49. Exeter's Whitney Edie led all scoring with 35. The Lady Tigers are 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Ozark 7 Conference.
Lady Bulldogs top Diamond. Wheaton took on the Lady Wildcats and pulled off a 37-28 win. Megan Littlefield led Wheaton scoring with 17. The Lady Bulldogs upped their record to 4-4 (2-1) with the victory.
Purdy girls fall to Galena. The Lady Eagles were unable to get it done against Galena, losing 52-39. Avery Roller led scoring for Purdy with 14. The Lady Eagles fall to 2-6 (1-3) on the year.
