Hiluard "Dave" Mattox, 75, a resident of Shell Knob, passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2006, in Springfield. He was born Sept. 4, 1931, in Lavina, Tenn., a son of Dave and Irene (Walker) Mattox. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Golden, and the Men's Monday Night Bowling League in Berryville, Ark. He was a farmer.
On Feb. 14, 1998, he was united in marriage with Betty Jane (Garner) Mattox, and she survives.
Additional survivors include: one son, Terry Mattox and his wife, Colleen, of Berryville, Ark.; one daughter, Sharon Katopodis, of Howell, Mich.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Kenneth Leaf, of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Roxanne and Robert Sappenfield, of Bentonville, Ark.; two brothers, Franklin Mattox, of Iverness, Fla., and David Mattox, of Lumberton, Texas; one sister, Dora Patrick, of Berryville, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
On Dec. 25, 1948, he was united in marriage with Frances Darlene (Casey) Mattox, who preceded him in death on May 16, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Irene Mattox; three brothers; one sister; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Golden First Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Dudley and Pastor Woody Fletcher officiating. Graveside committal services were held Friday at the Hopewell Cemetery near Median, Tenn.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
