Billie Joe "Bill" Long, 79, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

He was born April 6, 1927, in Longview, the son of Joe and Nellie (Jones) Long. He was united in marriage to Donna Ames, who preceded him in death on May 14, 1986. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Phil Couch.

Survivors include: two daughters, Lana Couch, of Cassville, and Janice Allen and her husband, Mitch, of Cassville; three sisters, Opal Santee, of Cassville, Esther Santee, of Stella, and Alice Senters, of Exeter; one brother, J.C. Long, of Neosho; one brother-in-law, Donald Ames, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren,

He received his education in McDonald County. During World War II he served in the United States Army. He was employed with Blalack Motors several years. For three years he was a part of the Santee and Long Conoco service in Cassville. He was a truck driver for Mozark Trucking and then owned and operated Bill's Conoco until 1975. After that he drove a grain truck until 2003, when he retired. He was a member of American Legion Post #118.

Funeral services were held Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Chris McCurley and J.R. Burr conducted the services. Burial was at Ruddick Cemetery,

Garfield, Ark.
