GENE BURNSIDE

Gene Burnside, 71, of Purdy, passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at Monett Health Care. He was born Oct. 22, 1935, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, the son of the late Henry and Louise Newland Burnside.

He married Ruth Kleffman on Jan. 7, 1954, in Greenup, Ky., and she survives.

He was a retired minister and machinist. He attended Country Side Christian Church in Monett.

Survivors include: two daughter, Debbie Hutchcraft, of Carterville, and Darlene David, of Ft. Worth, Texas; three sons, Kevin Burnside, of Monett, Randy Burnside, of Purdy, and Rick Burnside, of Purdy; two brothers, Eldon Burnside, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, and Dick Burnside, of Zansfield, Ohio; three sisters, Joyce Williams, of East Liberty, Ohio; Karlene Kennedy, of Greenville, Ohio, Rita Hardwick, of East Liberty, Ohio, and Connie Hemphill, of Bellefontaine, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett. Burial was at Purdy Cemetery, Purdy.
