Roy "Bert" Brown, 75, of Wheaton, passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, in the Missouri Veterans Home, Mt. Vernon.
He was born Dec. 29, 1930, in Exeter, the son of Orbie and Clara (England) Brown. On June 8, 1951, in Eureka Springs, Ark., he was united in marriage to Junie Lee Wallace, who survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Bert Brown, Jr., of Purdy, and Bobby Gene Brown, of Exeter; one daughter, Teresa Hickman, of Exeter; one brother, Johnny Brown and his wife, Marie, of Cassville; one sister, Melba Gailbreth, of Cassville; nine grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Maloy and Ray Brown and two sisters, Anna Brown and Bernice Lawson.
He received his education in rural Hazeldale and Oklahoma schools. He lived in the Ridgley and Wheaton area all his life where he farmed and raised cattle and chickens. During the Korean War he was in the United States Army, serving from Feb. 9, 1951, until Nov. 8, 1952. He also worked 19 years as a wire cutter for the Talbert Industry in Neosho. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wheaton.
Funeral services were held Thursday in the McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Burial with military honors was at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter. Pastor Gary Culp and Pastor Mark Hall conducted the services.
