HENRY "HANK" L. LONG

Henry "hank" L. Long, 71, of Topeka, Kan., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006. He was born on Dec. 25, 1934, in Blackwell, Okla., the son of Boyd H. and Dora A. Long.

He served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Gordon, Augusta, Ga., where he met his wife Nan R. Wade. They were married Dec. 20, 1958, and moved to Wellington, Kan. They were married 47 years until she passed away in 2005.

He was retired after working as a freight carmen for the Santa Fe Railway for 38 years.

Survivors include: two children, Stephen Randall Long and Lisa Long, both of Topeka, Kan.; two granddaughters, Rebecca Segenhagen, of Holton, Kan., and Caitlyn Strobel, of Topeka, Kan.; two great grandsons, James M. and Jack Henry Segenhagen, of Holton, Kan.; one brother, Clifford Long and one sister, Clorene Jesseph, both of Missouri.

He was also preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 15, at Topeka Bible Church. Interment followed at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be given to Topeka Bible Church Building Fund, 1101 S.W. Mulvane, Topeka, KS 66604.

BETTIE LOU TATE

Bettie Lou Tate, 75, of Cassville, passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, in her home.

She was born April 2, 1931, in Osha, Kan., the daughter of Walter and Mary Jane Angeline (Allen) Deeds. On Dec. 13, 1953, she was united in marriage to Floyd Tate, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.

Survivors include: two sons, Richard E. Rider, of Cassville, and Stevie E. Tate, of Coleman, Texas; two daughters, Kay Walker, of Cassville, and Sharon Kay Tate, of Covington, Tenn.; two sisters, LuEtta Allen, of Wichita, Kan., and Zanada Bowman, of Odessa, Texas; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

She attended the McGuire School at Viola. She lived in Golden for 16 years and in 1966 moved to Cassville to make her home.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Viney Creek Cemetery, Golden, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Larry Henbest will conduct the services.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
