Bert Hampton Coleman, 86, of Wheaton, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at Cox-Monett Hospital.
He was born July 24, 1920, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of the late Wallace Hampton and Molly Ellen (Cloud) Coleman. He attended 12 different schools between Texas and Missouri and graduated from alamo Heights High School, San Antonio, Texas, in 1938. He married Louise Williams on April 19, 1942, near Monett. He was a dairy farmer.
He was ordained deacon at Ridgley Southern Baptist Church in 1980. He was a member of Prosperity Southern Baptist Church in Rocky Comfort.
Survivors include: his wife, Louise, of the home; two sons, Danny Coleman and his wife, Carolyn, of Joplin, and Ronnie Coleman and his wife, Joni, of Bentonville, Ark.; one daughter Joyce Prewitt and her husband, Ferman, of Wheaton; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Services were held today (Wednesday) at Prosperity Southern Baptist Church in Rocky Comfort with Rev. George Gore and Rev. Dale Keel officiating. Interment followed at the Rocky Comfort Cemetery.
Services were under direction of the Wheaton Funeral Home, Wheaton.
