Joan Estelle Copeland, 67, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006.

She was born Nov. 23, 1938, in Neosho, the daughter of Larmer S. and Adilene G. (Easley) Tippit. She was united in marriage to Maurice Cox, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her father and a brother, Robert Tippit.

survivors include: one son, David Cox, of Huntsville, Texas; two daughters, Dea Coleman, of Cassville, and Adena Cox-Holloway and her husband, Kevin, of Cassville; her mother, Adilene Tippit, of Topeka, Kan.; two brothers, Art Tippit, of Atlanta, Ga., and Jerry Tippit, of Topeka, Kan.; five sisters, Jean Bryant, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Joy Gentry, of Pasadena, Texas, Susan Hendrix, of Topeka, Kan.,, Della Martinez, of Buffalo, N. Y., and Debbie Moore, of Topeka, Kan.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

She received her education at Topeka High School in Topeka, Kan. She was an executive secretary for the American Heart Association, then the DuPont Corporation and later for the Brown & Root Construction in Houston, Texas, who worked on the Alaska pipeline. After her retirement, she moved to Missouri where she lived the past 17 years.

A private family memorial service will be held. Her body was cremated under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
