Lillian (Ennis) Townsley passed away Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at the Neighborhoods of Quail Creek" Palliative Care Center, in Springfield where she had been a resident for one week.
She was born to Urtle and Robie (Hawk) Hutchens at Cassville on Feb. 17, 1917. She graduated from Cassville High School in 1935.
She was united in marriage to Wayne Ennis on April 6, 1935. She worked for several years at Production Credit office in Cassville. She and her husband were half owners of the Cassville Republican newspaper and upon his death in 1963, she bought the full ownership of the paper and was editor and publisher for many years. In 1978, she married W.L. Townsley. Upon retirement they moved to Joplin to make their home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne and her second husband, W.L. Townsley; her parents; three sisters, Donna, Cressie and Thelma; and a grandson.
Survivors include: her daughter, Billie Pohl and her husband, Bill, of Springfield; one grandson; two great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Roberta Pilant, of Cassville; four stepchildren, Bill, Chan, Tracy and Terri; and several step grandchildren, of the state of Kansas.
Graveside services were held Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
Arrangements were under direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home, Springfield.
