The Cassville Wildcat soccer squad had a busy week of play, tallying two wins, a loss and a tie. The soccer 'Cats record now stands at 13-5-1 with four games left in regular season play.

Last Tuesday, Cassville played host to Aurora and downed the Houn' Dawgs 4-0. Uziel Franco had a hat trick and Ryan Schlichtman added one goal in the victory. Schlichtman also assisted on two of Franco's goals. Aaron Jamieson was credited with one assist in the match.

Anthony Larson picked up the shut-out in goal.

On Thursday, the Wildcats travelled to Carthage and came away with a hard-fought tie.

The Tigers, a perennial district rival for Cassville, scored two goals early in the game. The Wildcats were unable to score in the first half and found themselves down 0-2 at half-time.

Schlichtman got Cassville on the scoreboard in the 58th minute and then scored again to tie the game at 2-2. Jamieson assisted both goals.

Neither team was able to score in two 10-minute overtime periods so the game ended in Cassville's first tie of the season. The defensive back line of Nate Evans, Chris Born and Humberto Orozco held strong, and goalkeeper Brandon Banks had several huge saves in the match.

The Wildcats travelled to Springfield on Saturday to face off against Greenwood, a Class 1 team that made it to the state's Final Four last season and are currently ranked 10th in the state,

Once again, Cassville found itself down 2-0 after Greenwood scored two quick goals in the first 10 minutes of play. The Wildcat defense stiffened, and Schlichtman was able to tie the game up in the second half and send the game to overtime.

A Greenwood cornerkick produced the game-winning goal during the first overtime period and the Jays earned a 3-2 win over Cassville.

The Wildcats were on the road again Monday, travelling to Marshfield. Cassville ended up defeating their hosts 1-0 in overtime.

Sophomore Ross Delosan-tos scored his first varsity goal to capture the win. He was assisted by Mathew Angel.

On Thursday, Cassville will play its final home game of the season against Carl Junction. The squad's eight seniors, Nate Evans, Jeremiah Harris, Hector Valenzuela, Chris Born, Brandon Banks, Justin Nosler, Erick Villalpando and Jesus Miranda, will be recognized before the start of the game.
