Beginning Oct. 16, Barry County residents will most likely encounter MSAG crews as they perform the fieldwork required to develop the accurate mapping needed to support E-911 implemen-tation.
MSAG crews will be mapping road centerlines, verifying the number of buildings on driveways, mapping building locations, and determining if the buildings are occupied or habitable. MSAG crews will need to determine if barns, stables, sheds or other detached buildings with no E-911 address have telephones. "When you meet a field crew, you can assist them by telling them what you know about driveways, roads and buildings in your area," said Pat Leighter, E-911 director.
Mapping is one of the first steps necessary to get Barry County's new E-911 system up and running.
