Arnold Smith, 85, of Butterfield, passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, in Red Rose Inn, Cassville.
He was born Oct. 22, 1920, in Galena, the son of John W. and Alma (Woodhouse) Smith, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by on son, Ronald Smith and two brothers.
Survivors include: his children, Francis and Patty Smith, of Cassville; Gail and Jerry Meadows, of Nixa, and Joyce and Claude Pering, of Gainesville, Fla.; one brother, Junior Smith, of Galena; one sister, Edna Rinker, of Crane; 10 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He grew up and received his education in Stone County. During World War II he entered the United States Army, serving from Nov. 18, 1942, until Dec. 30, 1945. He then returned to Missouri, where he was a cattle farmer most of his life. He attended Community Faith Church in Cassville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Nolan Cemetery, Galena.
