Charles Davis Bowden, 71, of Washburn, passed away Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, in Red Rose Inn, Cassville.

He was born in Oak Park, Ill., June 23, 1935, the son of Philip Francis and Mildred Beth (Koeppel) Bowden. He was united in marriage to Lottie Jane Bates on Dec. 31, 1986, in Hot Springs, Ark., and she survives.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Stephen C. Bowden, of Thorton, Colo., and Paul D. Bowden, of San Francisco, Calif.; three step-sons, Bobby Miller, of Goodman, Rocky Miller, of Exeter, and Jeffery Miller, of Goodman; one stepdaughter, Christena Myers, of Washburn; five stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Philip.

He was a school teacher and taught in Chicago, Ill., and Hot Springs, Ark., for over 17years. He served his country in the United States Army where he served for 25 years before retiring. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

The body has been cremated under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Chicago, Ill. Any flowers for the family locally may be brought to Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
