Bessie A. Eagan, 98, of Washburn, and former Pittsburg and McCune, Kan., resident died at 1:15 a.m., Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, at the Mt. Carmel Medical Center Emergency Room in Pittsburg, Kan. Her death was unexpected.
She was born in Beaver County, Okla., on Dec. 6, 1907, to George Bryan and Elizabeth (Strohr) Bryan. She grew up and attended school in the Oklahoma Panhandle area. She was married to Emery Clyde Eagan on Oct. 30, 1927. They were married for 64 years before he passed away on July 5, 1992. Her husband was an ordained minister with the Church of God affiliated with Anderson, Ind. They lived in various states while serving in the ministry.
Survivors include: five sons, Wilfred C. Eagan, of Mindenmines, Arthur L. Eagan, of Washburn, Martin L. Eagan, of Clearwater, Kan., Raymond L. Eagan, of Puyallup, Wash., and Charles E. Eagan, of Auburn, Wash.; 25 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty A. Eagan, and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons, Kan. Burial will be at McCune Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Church of God, 1801 A Street Northeast, Miami, OK 74354.
