CARL EUGENE "GENE" TAGGART
Carl Eugene "Gene" Taggart, age 68, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 11, 2006, in Cox-Monett Hospital, Monett, Missouri.
He was born April 23, 1938, in Carnegie, Oklahoma, the son of Charlie Carl and Agnes Evelyn (Charles) Taggart. On March 30, 1973, in Twin Rivers, Oklahoma, he was united in marriage to Anne M. Riley, who survives.
He is also survived by four children Keith Taggart, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Troy Taggart and his wife, Vonda, of Chico, Texas, Carla Buck and her husband, Dave, of Mustang, Oklahoma and Kathy Henry and her husband, Marty, of Cassville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Casey Tucker, Hayley Buck, Hannah Henry and Kelsey Henry; two sisters, Nadine Whitley and her husband, Bill of Eagle Rock, Missouri, Janiece Lawson and her husband, Buck, of Exeter, Missouri; many nieces and nephews and a special loved one, Jimmy Walker and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gene graduated with a degree in Pharmacy from Southwest Oklahoma State University School of Pharmacy, Weatherford, Oklahoma. He was a long-time drugstore merchant of Cassville, operating "Taggart's Medicine Shop." Gene was an active member of First Baptist Church, Cassville. He was a former member of Good News Quartet, Lions Club and Rotary Club. He was the song leader for both Roaring River State Park church services and Cowboys for Christ. He loved being with his family, fixing old antique vehicles, woodworking, singing, farming and riding his motorcycle.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2006, in First Baptist Church, Cassville, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home. Rev. John Duncan will conduct the services. Burial will be in Taggart Royal Oak Cemetery, Cassville.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, in First Baptist Church, Cassville. Memorials in memory of Gene may be made to His Children's Camp in care of the funeral home. Paid Obit
