Martha Elizabeth (Nance) McCord was born Dec. 20, 1910, in Wann, Okla., and passed away at her home on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006. In 1913 her family moved to Caney, Kan., then to Niotaze, Kan., until she was 13 years old. In 1923 the family moved to Shell Knob.
She was united in marriage to Delbert McCord April 15, 1936, and to this union two daughters, Elizabeth and Sharan, were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert, her parents, Asa and Mary Johanna (Eichinger) Nance, six brothers Dan, Virgil, Roy, Ran, Ralph, and Raymond, and two sisters Mary and Myrtle and one son-in-law Junior Madison.
survivors include: her two daughters, Elizabeth Chappell, and her husband, Bill, of Washburn, and Sharan Madison, of Cassville; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
She was baptized in 1940 at Shell Knob by Joe Blue and was an active member of the Mill Street Church of Christ until her health began to decline in late 2001.
Until her health began to fail, she was also very active at the local Senior Citizen Center.
She worked for 12 years for the Cassville schools as a cook/head cook, at the local hospital as cook/head cook for 11 years and then at the Barry County Care Center for six years.
She was known for her pie making and won local Apple Pie Baking Contests.
Funeral services were held Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Ken West and Chris McCurley conducted the services. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
