Harold J. Scritchfield, age 81, of Seneca, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 11, 2006, in St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Missouri.
He was born April 26, 1925, in Racine, Missouri, the son of Ward and Grace (Murray) Scritchfield. On April 4, 1942, in Joplin, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Burkhart, who passed away on December 15, 1995. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters.
He is survived by four sons, Jim Scritchfield and his wife, Sharon of Cassville, Missouri, Mike Scritchfield and his wife, Debbie of Derby, Kansas, Harold Scritchfield and his wife, Barbara of Carl Junction, Missouri and Mark Scritchfield and his wife, Denise of Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Warren Scritchfield of Seneca, Missouri and Maurice Scritchfield of Mesa, Arizona; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Harold went to school in Racine, Missouri and finished his education in the military. He resided in California for a while and worked in canneries. He spent most of his life in the United States Army, retiring June 30, 1965, as Master Sergeant. After his retirement Harold was employed with Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. In 1978, he moved from Derby, Kansas, to Shell Knob, Missouri, remaining there until 1999, when he moved to Seneca.
He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 15, 2006, in Shell Knob First Baptist Church, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Bob Gaddis conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Painter Cemetery, Shell Knob.
