Maurice Weihe, age 72, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 28, 2006, at the home of his daughter in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born June 11, 1934, in Stotts City, Missouri, the son of Fred and Erna (Lindauer) Weihe. On December 22, 1956, in Meade, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Betty Jo Denton, who survives. He is also survived by one daughter Jan Brock and her husband, Jim of Wichita, Kansas; one son, Jeff Weihe and his wife, Stacey of Wichita, Kansas; four granddaughters, Jessica and Kristin Brock and Abby and Maggy Weihe; three brothers, Roy Weihe and his wife, Georgia and Leland Weihe and his wife, Sandra all of St. Louis, Missouri and Carl Weihe and his wife, Peggy of Morrisville, Missouri and two sisters, Louise Veith and her husband, Arhart of Monett, Missouri and Grace Eads of Seneca, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Fred, Jr. and one sister, Ruth.

Maurice was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Cassville and Golden Harvest Club.

He graduated from high school at Mt. Vernon, Missouri. In 1958 and 1959 he served in the United States Army. Maurice was a technical engineer for NCR in Wichita, Kansas, retiring thirteen years ago, when he and Betty Jo moved to Cassville to make their home.

He was always there to help everyone in need. "Grandpa" could fix any broken toy or problem. Tinkering in his workshop, inventing and working in his vegetable garden were some of his favorite pastimes. He taught his son many of his electrical and mechanical skills. Maurice and his wife enjoyed traveling the world and especially the mountains in Colorado. They were in Alaska celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary when he became ill.

One of his big dreams came true when at age 70 his daughter and son-in-law treated him to a four-day backpacking trip to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. His life was full of fun and adventure. He will be missed by all.

Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 2, 2006, in St. Edwards Catholic Church, Cassville, with Father David Miller officiating and graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, in Graceland Cemetery, Meade, Kansas, with Father Angel Dy officiating, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

The family received friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri.
