Edward W. England, 92, Carthage, passed away Monday July 10, 2006, in the Carthage Nursing and Rehab Center. Mr. England was born Dec. 31, 1913, in Mineral Springs, to George H. England and Minerva (Brock) England. He was a graduate of Cassville High School, Class of 1934 and received his B.S. degree in education from SMSU Springfield. He was a U. S. Army veteran during WWII serving in the European Campaigns. He married Mary Louise Garner on April 24, 1949, in Cassville.
Mr. England came to Carthage in 1957 from Butler, and taught physical science at the Carthage Junior High School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Carthage where he served as a Sunday school teacher, volunteer for the American Red Cross, Carthage, a member of the Masonic Temple, Butler and Carthage Masonic Lodge # 197, American Legion Post # 9, and VFW Post 2590, both of Carthage.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary, of the home; one son David Allen England, Carthage; two daughters, Janet Lynn Kavandi and husband, Farhad, Houston, Texas, Debbie Thompson and husband, Mark, Springfield; one sister, Lillie Phillips and husband, Zane, Tehachapi, Calif.; three brothers, Joe England and Jack England, Shell Knob, Charles England and wife, Nancy, Cassville; four grandchildren, William and Ariana Kavandi, Jacob and Breanna Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 13, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Rev. S. Ray Crews will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to the donor's charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
