Walter Edwin Coshow, Jr., 86, of Shell Knob passed away Friday, June 23, 2006, in his home.
He was born April 16, 1920, in St. Louis, the son of Walter, Sr. and Eleanor V. (Coyne) Coshow. In 1959 in St. Louis, he was united in marriage to Mary Adelee Hart, who preceded him in death on May 3, 1984. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert and a grandson, Jesse.
survivors include: one daughter, Lynn Gellerman and her husband, Bill, of Cape Coral, Fla.; a sister, Dolores Coshow, of St. Louis; and four grand-children.
He received his education in St. Louis and was a graduate of St. Louis University High School. He began pitching in the American League Professional Baseball Club of America, but didn't pursue a career with the major league, because he entered the United States Navy during World War II. For 40 years he was employed in the maintenance department of Monsanto in St. Louis. In 1986, he moved to Shell Knob.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where funeral services were held at Tuesday under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Father David Miller conducted the services.
Burial with military honors was at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, St. Louis. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or St. John's Hospice of Berryville.
