He was born to Charles and Mary Smith Perkins on Nov. 29, 1917, in Willington, Texas. He was a retired police officer and a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mable; one son, Dale Perkins; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include: four sons, Leroy Perkins, of Bakersfield, Calif., Michael Voigt, of Miami, Fla., Jeffery Voigt, of Bellingham, Wa., and Rick Voigt, of Bellingham, Wa.; one daughter, Cathy Sanchez, of Republic; two brothers, Charles Perkins, of Oregon, and Darrell Perkins, of California; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at noon in Clio Cemetery under the direction of Peterson Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital.
