Lon Jesse Adams, 79, of Shell Knob, passed away Monday, June 26, 2006, in his home.

He was born Nov. 22, 1926, in Sedan, Kan., the son of J.A. "Pete" and Fern (Tucker) Adams. In 1955, he married Doris Jacobson, who preceded him in death. In 1974, he was united in marriage to Dixie Christensen, who preceded him in death on Oct. 30, 2001.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. He was a permanent member of the Hebron American Legion and the Hebron, Nebraska, Masonic Lodge. He was a funeral director in Hebron, Neb., where he owned and operated Adams-Tibbetts Funeral Home. They retired in 1990, when they moved to Shell Knob to make their home.

He was a member of Central Community United Methodist Church, Shell Knob, Abou Ben Adhem Shrine and Legion of Honor in Springfield.

survivors are: daughters, Sharon Roos and her husband, Larry, of Sheridan, Wyo., Nancee Gardner, of Lincoln, Neb., Sally Greathouse, of Marietta, Ohio; sons, Bryce Jacobson and his wife, Mary, of Hampstead, N. C., Kelly Christensen and his wife, Lisa, of Lafayette, La.; sisters, Erma Lee Sack and her husband, Kenneth, of Shell Knob, Gloria Chappell and her husband, John, J. of Las Croces, N. M.; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 30, in Central Community United Methodist Church, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Burial will be in Minden, Neb.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
