Wildcat players shine at all-star contest
Cassville High School was well represented at the 2006 Grin Iron Classic all-star football game held last Friday night at JFK Stadium in Springfield.
Wildcat kicker Jason Bromley, defensive back Cody Ricklefs and offensive guard Dakota Russell all started for the West All-Stars. The three seniors were named to the roster based on their outstanding seasons in 2005.
At the conclusion of this fall's campaign, which saw the Wildcats win conference and district championships and advance to the state quarterfinals, Ricklefs was named first team All-State, All-District and All Big 8. Bromley and Russell were tapped for the All-State second team while also picking up All-District and All-Big 8 first team honors.
In last Friday's game, the Wildcats were part of another winning team. The West All-Stars won 10-7.
Bromley, who will be a priority walk-on at Missouri State University this fall, helped the West get on the scoreboard first when he nailed a 37-yard field goal in the second quarter.
"Jason really got everyone's attention," said Cassville Coach David Large, who called the offense for the West All-Stars. "All three of our players did well."
Russell left the game early with an injury. According to Large, Russell broke his leg in the game.
Bromley also wowed the crowd by sending one of his booming kick-offs through the uprights.
