Kristy Rowland Miskovsky, 54, of Oklahoma City, Okla., died of complications from rheumatoid arthritis on May 17, 2006.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 10 at 4:00 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Springfield, Missouri. Kristy was born to Glenn and Marian Rowland on December 26, 1951, in Lamar, Missouri; and raised in Lamar and Mountain Home, Ark.
Kristy earned a B.A. from the University of Arkansas graduating with honors as a Phi Beta Kappa. Kristy was an assistant athletic director at North Little Rock Northeast High School; she later worked as associate director for the National Federation of State High School Associations in Kansas City, Missouri.
Kristy was married to George Miskovsky, Jr. in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on August 21, 1982. George and Kristy enjoyed an energetic life together in Oklahoma City and in their travel in the U.S. and abroad. Kristy is survived by her husband, George, parents Glenn and Marian Rowland, brothers Kerry Rowland and Kirby Rowland, sister Kathy Rowland, two nieces, one nephew and one stepson. Kristy was an inspiration in how she coped with her long illness.
A graveside memorial service was held on Monday, May 22 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
