CHS golfers perform well at state meet

Thursday, May 25, 2006

Cassville High School seniors Derek Neill and Dylan Vogt competed last Monday and Tuesday in the Class 3 state tournament at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar.

Neill shot an 82 and an 82 (164) during the two-day tournament and finished 42nd overall. Vogt shot an 85 and an 86 (171) to finish in 78th place.

"I am very proud of the performance Derek and Dylan put up last week," said CHS golf coach Lance Parnell. "They both handled the pressure of the state tournament very well.

"Both of these young men are going on to play golf in college, and I think the experience of the past two years, competing on a big tournament stage, will help them," added Parnell.

Both Neill and Vogt improved on their scores from the 2005 state tournament. Last year, Derek finished 65th with a 170 total and Vogt finished 106th with a 179.
