Stella S. Johnston, 77, of Cassville, passed away Friday, May 19, 2006, in her home.

She was born July 15, 1928, in San Diego, Calif., the daughter of Francis "Frank" and Stella (Hodgson) Graalfs. On June 29, 1952, in San Diego, Calif., she was united in marriage to Richard E. Johnston, who survives.

Additional survivors include: one son, Richard A. Johnston of Canton, Ga.; two daughters, Lori Bogle, of Glen Burnie, Md., and Lesa Louise Johnston, of Cassville; three sisters, Virginia Thompson, of Jacksonville, Ark., Lee Smith, of Carlsbad, Calif., and Margie Jefferson, of Oxnard, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harry and Dail Graalfs.

She received her education in San Diego, Calif., where she graduated from high school. She and Richard resided in Huntsville, Ala., for awhile and around 1984 they moved to Cassville to make their home. She then furthered her education, taking classes at Missouri Southern State University. Stella was a homemaker, artist and author, winning awards and prizes for her writing. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Cassville.

Memorial services were held Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Wayne Ferguson will conducted the services.
