Cassville track and field athletes competed in the Big 8 Conference at Carl Junction on Monday. The boys team placed fifth with 56 total points and the girls team finished sixth with 31.5 points.
Senior Kyle Bishop and junior Nick Pianalto brought home gold medals from the meet. Bishop placed first in high jump, clearing 6'0", and Pianalto was first in discus with a throw of 149'6".
Other top finishers for the Wildcat boys were:
Brian Elkins: fourth place, triple jump.
Brent Elkins: fifth place, triple jump.
Cody Lee: sixth place, shot put.
Nate Evans: fifth, 400-meter run, and sixth, 800-meter run.
Michael Baker: fourth, long jump.
Jeremy Archuleta: sixth, long jump.
Matt Boles: fourth, discus.
Cory Wilbanks: fourth, 3,200-meter run.
The 3,200-meter, 800-meter relay and 400-meter relay teams all finished fourth at the meet, and the 1,600-meter relay team placed sixth.
Ladycat long distance specialist Misty Long earned the Cassville girls' lone gold medal of the meet, winning the 3,200-meter run in a time of 13:41.31.
Other top finishers for the Ladycats were:
Brittany Vollenweider: sixth place, discus, and sixth place, shot put.
Long: fourth place, 1,600-meter run.
Courtney Beagle: fifth, 300-meter hurdles.
Brittney Wilbanks: fifth place, pole vault.
The 3,200-meter relay team finished fourth at the meet, the 800-meter relay team placed third and the 400-meter relay team was fifth.
Cassville runners will compete Saturday at the district meet at Branson.
