Hazel Hammond, 78, of Cassville, died Saturday, April 29, 2006, in her home.

She was born March 26, 1928, in Ripley, Okla., the daughter of Roy and Nora (Dooley) Brown. On May 29, 1944, in Yuma, Ariz., she was united in marriage to Bill Hammond who preceded her in death on May 10, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Betty.

Survivors include: one son, Mike Hammond and his wife, Sandra, of Cassville; two daughters, Linda Vaughn and her husband, Jerry, of Pulaskifield, and Jane Lloyd, of Bentonville, Ark.; a sister, Ruby Burchfield, of Gardnerville, Nev.; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

She was raised in Cushing, Okla., where she received her education. In 1946 she moved to California. She loved to collect and was a member of the Art Club in the 1960s. In 1961 she moved to Missouri to make her home and remained the past 45 years.

Graveside services were at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri. Brother Danny Heupel conducted the services.
