Two-boat collision under investigation

Friday, April 21, 2006

A boating accident on Table Rock Lake is still under investigation after one of the boats involved in the incident left the scene.

According to a news release issued by the Missouri State Patrol, the two-boat collision occurred on the Kings River arm of the lake near Shell Knob at 5:20 p.m. on April 16.

A bass boat struck a Cobalt operated by Charles Hirsch, 54, of Shell Knob. Hirsch suffered only minor injuries in the collision and did not seek medical treatment. None of Hirsch's four passengers were injured.

The Water Patrol reported that the driver of the bass boat left the scene. As of Tuesday morning, the Water Patrol had still not located the boat that was involved in the crash.

The boat is described as a black bass boat with blue metallic flakes in its paint. The watercraft would also have major damage to its right front and underside.

Anyone with information about this boat is asked to call the Water Patrol office at 573-751-3333 or the Barry County Sheriff's Department.
