Letter to the Editor

Response to fire was phenomenal Dear Editor:

Thursday, April 6, 2006

It's Sunday afternoon at 6:30 p.m., and I just got back from a fire! A large tree fell across electrical lines on my land and the high winds whipped up a fire quick. Thanks to my neighbors who noticed smoke up the road from their home after their electricity went out and called the sheriff, otherwise my land and my home as well as others may have been lost.

I want to give a huge THANK YOU to the Cassville Fire Department and Barry Electric who arrived at the fire site in mere minutes! They dropped everything on this lazy Sunday afternoon to get here and had the fire out in an hour. Barry Electric set to work restoring power to my good neighbor's home after that.

The quick action and awesome professionalism of our fire department is one to be thankful for especially in these high drought and wind conditions.

I have lived here in these woods for 10 years and have been blessed to have never needed any help but when the time came . . . help arrived!! Thank you again and God bless all of you wonderful people. You are my heroes!!
