John Michael Mead, 47, of Shell Knob, passed away Monday, March 6, 2006, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

He was born Aug. 13, 1958, in Caribou, Maine. On June 11, 1987, in Wichita, Kan., he was united in marriage to Sharon Ann Handlin Fouch, who survives. Additional survivors include: his father, Ronnie Allen Mead, of Wichita, Kan.; his mother, Bertha Mead, of Wichita, Kan.; a stepdaughter, Shelly Fouch, of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Rick Mead and his wife, Kathy, of Clearwater, Kans.; two grandchildren; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

He received his education in Wichita, Kan., where he graduated from high school. He spent most of his life in Wichita and the last four years he was a weekender at Shell Knob, Missouri. He was employed as an overhead crane operator with Boeing Air Craft.

He was a member of the Unity 273 Masonic Lodge in Clearwater, Kan., and the Midian Shrine in Wichita, Kan.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Shrine rites will be held. Burial will be in Lake Park Memorial Gardens, Shell Knob.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
