Virgil Eugene Roark, Sr., 71, of Cassville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

He was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Butterfield, the son of Ira and Thelma (Terry) Roark. On Sept. 22, 1957, in Athens, Greece, he was united in marriage to Georgia Bellia, who preceded him in death July 28, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a son, Virgil E. Roark, Jr. on April 27, 1996.

Survivors include: one daughter, Thelma Reid and her husband, Steve, of Cassville; a son, Carl Roark and his wife, Pam, of the State of California; one grandson; and two granddaughters.

He received his education in Kansas City and then went on to serve his country for 21years in the United States Air Force. He was stationed abroad in Europe, Central America and served in combat in Vietnam before returning to the United States to serve his final post in Rome, New York. Upon retirement in 1976, he moved with his family to Cassville in 1976, where he was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church.

Graveside services with Military Honors were held at Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Father David Miller conducted the services.
