Ruby Evelyn McCord, 78, of Cassville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, in Cox Monett Hospital, Monett.
She was born March 9, 1927, in Mertens, Texas, the daughter of Harry and Ruby (Bookout) Griffin. On June 14, 1946, in Columbus, Kan., she was united in marriage to Emmett McCord, who survives. Additional survivors include: two sons, Craig McCord, of Manhattan, N. Y., and Michael McCord, of Kansas City; a daughter, Cindy Harpool, of Springfield; two sisters, Peggy Smith and Anita Coleman, both of Mabank, Texas; seven grandchildren;and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Jayne Graef and Pat Smith.
Evelyn and Emmett moved to Miami, Okla., in 1946. From there they moved to Stillwater, Okla., where they lived for five years. In 1954, they moved to Jay, Okla., from there to Fairfax, Okla., and then back to Stillwater. In 1980, they moved to Cassville to make their home. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Cassville First Baptist Church and taught in the Children's Department Sunday School for 25 years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. James Weaver conducted the services. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
