Joyce Noland, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, entered this world on March 15, 1945, in McDowell, Mo., and was received into the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, February 23, 2006, at 9:45 p.m. at St. Louis University Hospital following a short illness. Joyce was the first child of Ralph and Mary (Ash) Bennett. Joyce attended school at Victory in McDowell during her early years and graduated from Aurora High School in 1962.
Following graduation, Joyce worked at the Chest Hospital in Mt. Vernon before traveling to Kansas City, MOo., to attend and graduate from nursing school at Trinity Lutheran Hospital. There she met her first husband, Joe Dyer. They were united in marriage on November 23, 1968. To this union, two children were born: Robin Gail King and Jackie Lou Slutter. Following Joe's death in 1992, Joyce found companionship in Robert Noland. They were united in marriage on January 22, 1993.
Joyce worked at several physicians' clinics in Lee's Summit, prior to moving to Cassville in 1973. She became a stay at home mom to her two girls until 1979 when the youngest started kindergarten. She then returned to working as a registered nurse at what was then known as South Barry County Hospital and today as St. John's Hospital. She cross-trained in many areas including working on the floor, in surgery and developing the cardiac rehab program. At the time of her death, she was one of the executive directors over infection control, quality control, JCAHO survey and policy and procedures manual.
She was saved at Victory Church at the tender age of 12 and was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Exeter. She also was a trustee at the Missouri Baptist Children's Home.
Joyce had many interests outside of work, including quilting, embroidering and cross stitching. Some of the greatest highlights of her life were spoiling her grandchildren.
Those who greeted her at heaven's door included her first husband, Joe, her parents, Ralph and Mary and many aunts, uncles and other family and friends.
Now she awaits at heaven's door for the following survivors: her husband, Robert "Bob" Noland, of Cassville; Two children and their spouses, Robin and Mike King of Springfield, Mo., and Jackie and Mick Slutter of Lee's Summit, Mo.; Two grandchildren, Maggie Joe age 2 ? years and Maximus Jonas age 2 months of Lee's Summit; sister and husband, Carolyn and Tom McNabb, of Cassville; her husband's sons and spouses, Dennis and Carolyn Noland, of Cassville and Mike and Tracy Noland, of Cassville; their children, Tiffanie and Travis Holman, Brandon Horton and Ryan Horton, all of Cassville; Jake and Whitney Kloss, of Cassville; Jennifer Baker of Neosho, Mo.; Michael Baker, of Joplin, Mo., and Matthew Baker, of Chicago, Ill., and two great grandchildren due in October.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, February 28, 2006, in Exeter First Baptist Church, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial was in Sparks Cemetery, Butterfield.
