Jessamine Marie Jefferson, 90, of Kansas City, formerly of Monett, died Feb. 7, 2006, at Kingswood Health Center in Kansas City.

She was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Barry County, the daughter of Luster Benton Arnold and Cleta Mare Hawk Arnold. She lived in Monett from 1951 to 2000, and owned and operated the Shelter Insurance Agency with her husband for over 30 years. She joined Red Bridge United Methodist Church in Kansas city after many years as a member of the First United Methodist in Monett, where she was famous for her chocolate pies. She was also a member of the Ruth Circle, Hawthorne Literary Club, and Tri Psi Mother's Sorority. She volunteered with Monett Loaves and Fishes for many years. She was married to James Lyle Jefferson for 58 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Nancy Jefferson; and grandson; two sisters, Kathryn Thomas and Martella Daniels; and two infant siblings.

Survivors include: three daughters, Sharon Mosby, Sally Ryan, and Lyla Perrodin, and her husband, Rory, of Kansas City; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were on Saturday . at Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett. Burial was at Monett IOOF Cemetery.
