Vergie Mae Robinson, 96, of Springfield, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, in Magnolia Square Nursing Facility in Springfield, after a long illness.

She was born Nov. 15, 1909, in rural Wheaton, daughter of the late Morris Monroe and edna Lamberson Barnett.

She married Roy Robinson of Jan. 28, 1932, in Fairview, and he preceded her in death. She was a member of the Wheaton Southern Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 65 years. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters, Agnes Harper and Zelma Planck.

Survivors include: one brother, Harold Barnett, and his wife, Maxine, of Springfield.

Services were held Thursday at Wheaton Funeral Home, with Richard Buck officiating. Interment followed in the Rocky Comfort Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the Wheaton Southern Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
