EUGENE "GENE" R. DALE

Eugene "Gene" R. Dale, 56, of Springfield, Ill., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at St. John's Hospice, Springfield, Ill.

He was born Mar. 29, 1949, in St. Louis county to Dolores Mohrmann Phelps. He married Connie Jo Boyd in 1979 and she survives.

He was a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service for 19 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Richard Phelps.

Additional survivors include: his mother, of Ballwin; three daughters, Jessie Bricker, Molly Dale, and Lora Weigman, all of Springfield, Ill.; one sister, Gayle Workes, of St. Louis; two step-sisters, Barbara Fillinger, of Blue Springs, and Linda Roughton, of St. Charles; one brother, Roy C. Dale Jr., of Kirkwook; one step-brother, Rick Phelps, of Ballwin; and one grandson.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, near Butterfield, with Rev. Tony Martin officiating.
