Robert "Bob" Loomis, Shell Knob, formerly of Excelsior Springs, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, in Waco, Texas.

He was born June 27, 1936, in Oelwein, (Fayette County) Iowa, the son of Irving and Elsie (Brickman) Loomis.

He attended school in Arlington, Iowa, and graduated in 1954. For two years he served in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge in May, 1957.

On Dec. 27, 1958, in St. Johns Lutheran Church, Arlington, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Karen McKiney. survivors include: his wife, Karen; three sons, Duane Loomis and Doug Loomis, of Excelsior Springs, and David Loomis of Lawrence, Kan.; four sisters, Donna Murphy, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Duane "Marj" Grimm, of Maynard, Iowa; Mrs. Les "Carol" Tammen of Manson, Iowa, and Mrs. Lee "Dorothy" Buhr, of Oelwein, Iowa, and one brother, Gene Loomis, of Hazleton, Iowa; and four granddchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Debra Loomis; two sisters and one brother.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran MO-Synd, Shell Knob. Upon returning from the service he joined Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Waterloo, Iowa, and was with them 10 years. He then joined Bandag, Inc., Muscatine, Iowa, remaining with them 27 years, retiring Aug. 28, 1998, as Sales Development Manager. Bob and Karen retired as winter Texans in Penitas, Texas, for six years and then moved back to Missouri settling in Shell Knob.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Peace Lutheran Church, Shell Knob. Burial with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
