Sigurd G. "Sig" Skogsberg, 84, of Shell Knob, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, in Red Rose Inn, Cassville.

He was born May 27, 1921, in Dalsland, Sweden, the son of Frank and Ester (Lindquist) Skogsberg. On Feb. 2, 1946, in Rockford, Ill., in marriage to Ruby Baker, who survives.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Brian Skogsberg and his wife, Linda, of Byron, Ill., and Gordy Skogsberg and his wife, Cathy, of Shell Knob; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Biven and two brothers.

He received his education in Illinois. During World War II he was in the United States Army, serving from March 8, 1943, until Jan. 17, 1946. He was employed with Northern Illinois Construction several years. In 1979 he moved from Bryon, Ill., to Shell Knob to make his home. He was a member of Shell Knob Central Community United Methodist Church. He was also a member of American Legion, Masonic Lodge and the Shrine all in Rockford, Ill.

Funeral services were held Monday, in Shell Knob Central Community United Methodist Church, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Rev. Dean Wilson conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
