Melba Jean (Fielding) Chadd, 84, of Washburn, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, in Barry County Care Center, Cassville.

She was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Barry County, the daughter of Jim and Lou (Ellis) Fielding. In December 1945, she was united in marriage to Charlie Chadd, who preceded her in death on April 27, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Alfia, Harvie, Murel, Paul and Auther and one sister, Mary.

Survivors include: three sons, Jim Chadd and his wife, Nancy, of Washburn, Kenny Chadd, of Nevada, and Bobbie Chadd, of Washburn; two sisters, Bonnie Clark and Pauline Winning, of Marshall; five grandchildren; two great grandsons.

She received her education in the OK School, West of Washburn. She was a homemaker and also worked at the Washburn School, canning factory and laundry mats. She attended the Washburn United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Sunday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Judy Lloyd conducted the services. Burial was at Washburn Prairie Cemetery, Washburn.
