Lyda Beatrice "Bea" Porter, age 93, of Washburn, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, at the home of her son in Exeter.
She was born Jan. 17, 1912, in LaRussell, the daughter of Henry J. and Xzan (Wiley) Johnson. On March 3, 1931, she was united in marriage to Sam Porter, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, James Porter; five brothers; three sisters; a grandson, Carlin and a daughter-in-law, Patsy Porter.
Survivors include: four sons, Ray Porter and his wife, Dorothy, of Washburn, Jack Porter and his wife, Carol, of Denver, Colo., Carl Porter, of Washburn and Charles Porter and his wife, Kaye, of Exeter; five daughters, Chloe Weathers and her husband, Charles, of Washburn, Dorothy Webb and her husband, James, of Wichita, Kan., Marilynn Lawrence and her husband, Hugh, of Seligman, Margaret Rose and her husband, Dale, of Washburn, and Vicki Holland and her husband, DeWayne, of Washburn; one sister, Maggie Robinson, of Palo Alto, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
She received her education and met Sam at LaRussell. After their marriage they resided in Texas a few months and returned to Barry County. She spent the remainder of her life in the Corinth Community and Washburn area.
She attended Washburn First Baptist Church, where funeral services were held today (Wednesday) under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Bob Neeley and Rev. Glenn Erwin conducted the services. Burial was in Corinth Cemetery, Cassville.
