He was born April 24, 1927, in Monett, to William Stephen and Nellie May Hornie Balmas. He married LaVeta Mae Haslip on Aug. 10, 1948, in Neosho. He was a truck driver and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin and Jack Balmas.
Survivors include: one son, Kenneth Balmas and his wife, Linda, of Monett; two daughters, Jeanne Lupe, of Monett, and Debbe Jones, of Purdy; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, at the Waldensian Cemetery with Rev. Terry LaSalle officiating.
